PP6 Tutorials » How to Save

PP6 doesnt save the usual way of saving, you have to follow this tutorial to do it. But don't worry, you get used to it very quickly.

Lets pretend you've finished your layout. You click the normal save button (the floppy disc icon), and you realize that you can only save it as an .SPP file. Because this isn't the usual image file type, you wont be able to upload it to the internet, or view it without using PP6. How do you save it as an image? That's what this tutorial is about.

Saving as .PNG

Step 1: Go to File > Export Optimizer.
Step 2: Look through the dropdown list of file type options, and choose PNG (Portable Network Graphics), this file type has the best quality.
Step 3: Click the "Export" button and save as normal ;D

You're done! But, unfortunately .PNG doesnt support transparency. You'll find that if you have a transparent background, saving it as .PNG doesn't leave it transparent. Only .GIF does, though the image quality is much worse. To get the best possible quality with .GIF, follow step one, then do the following:

Saving as .GIF

Step 1: Follow Step 1 and 2 of "Saving as .PNG"
Step 2: Look for .GIF on the drop down list, and change the settings to the following:

That will give you the best quality as possible.
